Herefordshire awarded Smarter Planning Champion status

Improvements to the way planning applications are processed has earned Herefordshire Council “Smarter Planning Champion” status. Herefordshire is one of only 65 local authorities to achieve this status which is awarded by the Local Planning Association (LPA) and the Planning Portal, the Government’s online planning and building regulation resource.

Smarter Planning was launched by the UK Government's planning portal website as a partnership between planning agents, local planning authorities and the Portal to streamline and improve the planning application process.

As a Smarter Planning Champion, the council has had to demonstrate how it promotes the use of its online planning portal as the preferred method for submitting or commenting on planning applications. It also helps us reduce our printing and postage costs, whilst offering a faster service for our customers.

Cllr Philip Price, cabinet member infrastructure said, “This achievement is a result of our continued commitment to make it easier, quicker more efficient to use our website to submit, search and comment on planning applications.

My thanks go to the teams that have worked hard to make sure our customers get the most efficient service possible.”
