130 pupils from 13 primary schools across Herefordshire gathered together on 8 June for an Eco Schools Event hosted by St Mary’s RC High School in Lugwardine. The day celebrated World Environment Day and World Oceans Day.
The event was organised by the Energy and Environmental Management Team of Herefordshire Council to acknowledge and celebrate the tremendous sustainable development education work that our schools are delivering that supports the Eco Schools environmental award scheme.
Pupils were inquisitive and willing to get involved in the activities based on the Eco Schools topics and enjoyed activities and games about energy, recycling and composting, eating healthily, forest schools, biodiversity in ponds and the oceans, the global impact of our actions and looking at reptiles and amphibians.
The feedback from everyone has been incredibly positive and both pupils and staff thoroughly enjoyed the day as well as benefiting from new information and ideas that they can implement in their schools, homes and future lives.
