Herefordshire Council has launched its 2015/16 budget consultation and is asking residents to participate.
The 2015/16 budget consultation will run for 12 weeks until Friday 10 October and features an online budget simulator, which not only shows the council’s net budget, but also highlights where we spend our money along with those areas where we generate an income. The information residents provide will help to guide council decisions to ensure we not only deliver the services we have to provide but also, where possible, those services communities want us to provide, all within a balanced budget.
Councillor Tony Johnson, leader of Herefordshire Council, said: “All councils across the country need to make unprecedented savings in light of significant government funding reductions and Herefordshire Council is no different. Over a six year period from 2011 to 2017, we have to save nearly £70million. To date we have saved £34million, but we still need to save an additional £33million in the next three years.
“It is no easy feat to balance an annual budget in the region of £140million, which is why we are running this year’s budget consultation slightly differently and inviting the public to do just that……balance the council’s budget.”
