A fantastic milestone has been reached this week in Herefordshire with the 50th neighbourhood area to be designated within the county and the 60th application to have been submitted.
Hatfield and District Group Parish Council was the 50th area to be approved in Herefordshire and are now beginning work on their neighbourhood plan.
Weston-under-Penyard Parish Council has submitted the 60th application to designate their neighbourhood area with the consultation period due to expire on Wednesday 6 November 2013.
Councillor Russell B Hamilton, cabinet member for environment, housing and planning, said: “I am pleased to be able to say that over 50 per cent of our local communities are now taking the opportunity to produce a neighbourhood development plan for their local area. This allows local people to shape the future for their own communities and their work will guide development in their area for the next twenty years. These two parishes have demonstrated that it doesn’t matter how large or small your community is, everyone can get involved.
“I would like to pay tribute to the hard work of all those throughout the county who have embarked on the process to take greater control of their own futures with the support of the council's neighbourhood planning team, who is doing a great job."
