Council's accounts given a clean bill of health

Independent auditors have given Herefordshire Council a clean bill of health for its 2011/12 financial accounts and its ability to provide value for money for residents.

The audit committee on 21 September will receive the annual accounts and also the Audit Commission’s assessment of its financial and governance arrangements.

Cllr Philip Price: cabinet member for corporate services, said: “It is good news for the people of Herefordshire that once again we have delivered unqualified accounts and have in place effective value for money arrangements.  The Audit Commission has also recognised the significant change delivered by the council in 2011/12 as we tackled extensive government funding reduction and successfully set up Hoople, our joint venture company that now employs former council staff.”

The accounts are available on the council’s website – under spotlights.
